2024: Blacksmithing: Fall Leaves

A class for those who love organic forms and leaves. Seasonally appropriate, students will explore both forged and repoussed leaves starting with a simple vine leaf and working up to an acanthus leaf. The leaf forms we will explore are ginkgo, maple, grape, oak, and paw paw, in addition to those above. Also, students will be challenged to bring actual examples of leaves they’ve found that we will then render in steel.

This is a beginning level course, with room to challenge more experienced students. Shop safety, fire management, and proper hammer techniques will be covered in this class. Additionally, training on and use of a plasma cutter will also be featured.
