August 7, 2017: Blacksmithing: Bells

Create a set of bells out of steel. Perhaps thinking of sleigh bells will get our minds off the heat of the Summer!  We’ll present two different types of bells that can be made. The sleigh bell is the most popular and we hope to have enough materials for each student to make more than one if that is what they want to do. We will help each student create a treasure.

You will be working closely with hot steel in August. Returning students who are comfortable with lighting a fire can arrive at 9am. New students should arrive by 8.30am for the shop safety and fire management orientation.

This is a ONE DAY class.

NEW students: Your safe shop practices and fire management discussion will begin at 8.30am.

RETURNING Students: Please arrive by 9.00am.

Class includes safe shop practices, fire management, efficient hammer techniques and basic forging.  All safety equipment and materials provided.
