Dale Morse

Dale Morse is the proprietor of the Virginia Institute of Blacksmithing and Clay Hill Forge. At age 9, he began blacksmithing at the Booker T. Washington National Monument’s living history program. The program depicted everyday life in a rural 1860’s tobacco plantation.

Dale established a blacksmithing shop at Warren Wilson College in Asheville, NC where he also obtained a bachelor’s in Business Administration. He attended Penland and John C. Campbell craft schools in the U.S. He studied under Manfred Bredhol of Vulkanschmiede in Aachen, Germany and under Gabrielle Curtolo in San Servolo, Venice, Italy. From lighting fixtures to railings to gates, Dale’s ironwork can be found in homes and businesses in the US and abroad.

Dale is the VP of Education for the Old Dominion Blacksmithing Assocation and the Guild Mentor and current President for the Shenandoah Valley Blacksmithing Guild. He also teaches at The Jacksonville Center for the Arts in Floyd, VA and the John C Campbell School in Brasstown, NC. David Tucciarone

David Tucciarone first learned about steel as a steel plate fitter in a shipyard. After participating in a variety of conferences and courses, he opened Sunrise Forge, a full-time blacksmith shop, in 1992. He also started teaching at the John C. Campbell Folk School that year. David specializes in making decorative ironwork for the home and garden.
